Hello, Everybody!

Yesterday I removed the carburetor from my '97 Savage, just to study it and become familiar with it. It seems a lot less complex now, having it on the bench in front of me, along with the Clymer Manual's exploded view.
Before reassembling the carb, I'd like to know how you all feel about the White Spacer! Should I leave it in place, replace it with a thinner one, or just remove it altogether? My stock Main Jet is a #145. (the Clymer manual says the stock jet is a #155, but this probably referred to the '86-88 bikes with a different carb.)
Do you think I should go to a richer jet? I recently replaced the stock muffler with a slip-on of lower back pressure, and also removed the "snorkel" from my air box. Both of these mods probably resulted in a leaner running condition.
My riding style is extremely "laid back", just cruising my country backroads at 45MPH and never going on the freeway, therefore my goal is NOT for enhancing performance, but for keeping my engine from overheating due to a possible "too lean" running condition. What are your recommendations, Thumperites?

Sincerely...
Hardtail Hal
